You can check if your course is CRICOS approved on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cricos.education.gov.au\/Course\/CourseSearch.aspx\">https:\/\/cricos.education.gov.au\/Course\/CourseSearch.aspx<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>What are your pathways to PR as a Cook?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After completing your diploma, you have various options.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Apply for a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/visaenvoy.com\/training-visa-subclass-407\/\">subclass 407 Training Visa<\/a>\u2013 temporary<\/li>\n<li>Apply for an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/visaenvoy.com\/employer-sponsored-visas\/\">Employer-Sponsored Visa<\/a>\u00a0(if you have relevant experience) \u2013 temporary<\/li>\n<li>Apply for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/visaenvoy.com\/skilled-visas\/\">General Skilled Migration \u2013 Permanent<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Subclass 407 Visa<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/visaenvoy.com\/training-visa-subclass-407\/\">407 visa<\/a>\u00a0allows you to complete work-based training.<\/li>\n<li>You are required to have a sponsor who can provide the training. The training types must either be:\n<ul>\n<li>Occupational training to improve skills for a cook.<\/li>\n<li>Occupational training for capacity building overseas is for overseas students who want to complete a placement in Australia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Meet health and character requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Employer-Sponsored Visa Options<\/h4>\n<p>The employer you choose to work for is important. They are required to meet the following\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/visaenvoy.com\/caveats-on-occupations\/\">caveats<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>The position cannot be involved in mass production in a factory setting.<\/p>\n<p>The position must not be in a limited-service restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>Limited-service restaurants include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>fast food or takeaway food services<\/li>\n<li>fast-casual restaurants<\/li>\n<li>drinking establishments that offer only a limited food service<\/li>\n<li>limited service cafes including, but not limited to, coffee shops or mall cafes<\/li>\n<li>limited-service pizza restaurants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Your role in the restaurant is equally important. The difference between the occupations of cook and cooks is made based on 2 main elements:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>the specific tasks of the nominated position and corresponding skill level; and<\/li>\n<li>the work environment<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Fundamentally, a cook\u2019s primary role is one of cooking, whereas that of a chef is managing the kitchen with some limited, specialised cooking tasks. Some of the duties of a cook are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality<\/li>\n<li>Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment<\/li>\n<li>Preparing and cooking food<\/li>\n<li>Seasoning food during cooking<\/li>\n<li>Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes<\/li>\n<li>Storing food in temperature-controlled facilities<\/li>\n<li>Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements<\/li>\n<li>May plan menus and estimate food requirements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fundamentally, a cook\u2019s primary role is one of cooking, whereas that of a cook is managing the kitchen with some limited, specialised cooking tasks.<\/p>\n<p>If you have a sponsor, you may be eligible to apply for these visas:<\/p>\n<h6>Subclass 482 \u2013 TSS Visa (<a href=\"https:\/\/visaenvoy.com\/stsol\/\">Short Term Stream<\/a>)<\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>Have at least\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/visaenvoy.com\/tss-visa-english-language-requirements\/\">5.0 in IELTS<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Have at least\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/visaenvoy.com\/work-experience-requirements-tss-visa\/\">2 years of working experience<\/a>\u00a0as a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/visaenvoy.com\/stsol\/\">Cook<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Receive a salary of at least $53,900 and meet the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/visaenvoy.com\/salary-for-tss-visa-and-market-salary-rate\/\">market salary rate<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Apply for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/visaenvoy.com\/tss-482-visa-skills-assessment\/\">skills assessment<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Before Applying<\/h3>\n<p><strong><a id=\"AmIEligible\"><\/a>Am I elegible for apply skill assessment?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To apply for a TSS or OSAP Skills Assessment with William Angliss Institute, you will need to meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have current culinary experience, skills and knowledge in Western cuisine<\/li>\n<li>Be employed in your nominated occupation in a full-time paid capacity for a minimum of 12 months within the past 3 years prior to lodging your application.<\/li>\n<li>Have original and verifiable documentary evidence of all your employment and relevant education and training qualifications.<\/li>\n<li>Have a\u00a0minimum of 3 years of full-time paid experience\u00a0in your nominated occupation (if you have undertaken relevant formal studies\/training), or;<\/li>\n<li>Have a\u00a0minimum of 5 years of full-time paid experience\u00a0in your nominated occupation (if you have\u00a0not\u00a0undertaken any relevant formal studies\/training previously).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How much experience do I need to have to be eligible to apply?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While in the industry it may be common to refer to cooks working in a professional kitchen as \u2018chefs\u2019, for the purpose of the TRA Skills Assessment program, the nominated occupation of CHEF refers to applicants employed in a Head\/Sous Chef role with kitchen management responsibilities. If you currently report to a Head\/Sous Chef in your workplace, you are considered as a COOK for your Skills Assessment.<\/p>\n<p>You must be able to provide satisfactory supporting documentary evidence of your current and previous employment to substantiate your experience. Unpaid or unverifiable employment will not be eligible for consideration.<\/p>\n<p>If you have completed relevant formal training for your occupation, you must be able to provide academic transcripts and qualifications\/certificates as evidence.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that when determining the minimum work experience you are required to have to be eligible to apply, qualifications attained via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) are not categorised by WAI as formal studies\/training.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Minimum Work Experience Required For Candidates with Formal Studies\/Training:<\/strong><\/p>\n<address>Cooks\/Pastrycooks\/Bakers<\/address>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of 3 years full-time paid employment as a COOK\/PASTRYCOOK\/BAKER (eg. Commis\/Demi\/Chef de Partie\/Senior Chef de Partie\/Pastrycook\/Baker)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<address>Chefs\/Pastry Chefs<\/address>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of 1-2 years of full-time paid employment as a CHEF\/PASTRY CHEF (eg.
